Para quien desee ayudar / For Whoever Wants to Help

/

I am not going to sing that old song “I told you so,” even though whomever has been following my preaching in this blog is very well aware that this could be seeing coming from far away. If Barak and Sharon hadn’t surrender territory to the enemy, and if Olmert weren’t still now announcing out loud that he stills has the intentions of surrendering further parts of the territories liberated in 1967, this war would simply no exist. Rather, in these moments, we all feel the duty to help those who need it the most.

The population of the areas where rockets and missiles fall daily is going through very difficult moments. Many have opted for leaving toward safer terrain; others spend day and night in bomb shelters.

Great many people cannot go to work, or even shopping for food. It goes without saying what it must be like to have small children in the midst of it all.

Collel Chabad, Israel’s oldest organized charity, without ceasing to fulfill its regular duties of helping the poor and needy of Israel, has launched an unprecedented campaign of humanitarian assistance.

Every donation, however small, shall be very much appreciated. All gathered monies will go directly to those who need them most.

Given that the number of internal refugees has reached nearly a million, the need is overwhelming.

Donations from the USA are tax-deductible.

Una visión de Zacarías / A Vision from Zachariah

The burden of a word of HaShem against the land of Hadrach, and Damascus -- his place of rest: «When to HaShem [is] the eye of man, And of all the tribes of Israel. And upon Hamath [in Ashkenazic pronunciation “Hamas”] too, which borders on it, and upon Tyre and Sidon, though they are very skillful. Tyre has built herself a stronghold; she has heaped up silver like dust, and gold like the dirt of the streets. But the HaShem will take away her possessions and destroy her power on the sea, and she will be consumed by fire.

Ashkelon will see it and fear; Gaza will writhe in agony, and Ekron too, for her hope will wither. Gaza will lose her king and Ashkelon will be deserted. A bastard will occupy Ashdod, and I will cut off the pride of the Philistines. I will take the blood from their mouths, the forbidden food from between their teeth. Those who are left will belong to our God and become leaders in Judah, and Ekron will be like the Jebusites.

But I will defend my house against marauding forces. Never again will an oppressor overrun my people, for now I am keeping watch.

Rejoice greatly, O Daughter of Zion! Shout, Daughter of Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and having salvation, gentle and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey. I will take away the chariots from Ephraim and the war-horses from Jerusalem, and the battle bow will be broken. He will proclaim peace to the nations. His rule will extend from sea to sea and from the River to the ends of the earth.»

Zachariah 9:1-10

Beginning the ninth day of the month of Av, we fast and observe mourning for the destruction of the Jerusalem Temple and the exile of the Jewish people. But at the same time we ask for the end of all our afflictions, and for the prompt arrival of our redemption.

Our redemption is in our hands. The vision of Zechariah shows us the path, we may well be on our way to the Geulah. All the elements are gathered: fire over the cities of Lebanon, attacks against Ashkelon and adjacent cities, and the terror of Gaza after the reply. The “momzer” that rules the Jewish side, which the Targum renders as “the House of Israel” – seems to me a clear reference to the traitor government of Israel that, in the heat of the battle, still plans to expel the Jewish residents of Judea and Samaria. At the end of the day, the Jewish people can do tshuvah and rule gloriously and with full sovereignty over all of Eretz Yisroel.

It is up to us. The fast may very well become a festive day in which we celebrate the fall of all our enemies, and of the momzeirim that abuse power within our borders. May it indeed be so!

¿Cuándo vamos a aprender? Nota sobre la parashá de Maasei / When Are We Going To Learn? A Note On Parshas Maasei

Last year I quoted the Torah ordinance (tzivui) that concerns the expulsion of the gentile inhabitants of the land of Israel when the Jewish people enter it. According to the Ramban – Nachmanides – it is actually a precept (mitzvah) which the Rambam – Maimonides – ought to have included in the Sefer HaMitzvos.

In the very next paragraph, the Torah continues (Bamidbar /Numbers 34:1-15):

Y habló HaShem a Moisés, diciendo:

.

.

HaShem spoke to Moses saying:

Command the Children of Israel and say to them: “'When you enter Canaan, the land that will be allotted to you as an inheritance will have these boundaries:

Your southern side will include some of the Desert of Tzin along the border of Edom. On the east, your southern boundary will start from the end of the Salt (Dead) Sea, cross south of Maale Akrabim, continue on to Tzin and go south of Kadesh Barnea. Then it will go to Chatzar Adar and over to Atzmon, where it will turn, join the River of Egypt (Nachal Mitzrayim) and end at the Sea.

Your western boundary will be the coast of the Great Sea (the Mediterranean). This will be your boundary on the west. For your northern boundary, run a line from the Great Sea to Mount Hor and from Mount Hor to Lavo-Chamat. Then the boundary will go to Tzedad, continue to Ziphron and end at Chatzar Enan. This will be your boundary on the north.

For your eastern boundary, run a line from Chatzar Enan to Shepham. The boundary will go down from Shepham to Rivlah on the east side of Ayin and continue along the slopes east of the Sea of Kinneret.

Then the boundary will go down along the Jordan and end at the Salt (Dead) Sea. This will be your land, with its boundaries on every side.”

Moses commanded the Children of Israel saying: Assign this land by lot as an inheritance. HaShem has ordered hat it be given to the nine and a half tribes, because the families of the tribe of Reuben, the tribe of Gad and the half-tribe of Manasseh have received their inheritance.

These two and a half tribes have received their inheritance on the east side of the Jordan of Jericho, toward the sunrise.

¿Cuándo vamos a aprender?

.

Learning about the borders of Eretz Yisrael is of great importance. In the first place, it is necessary to know where to implement the precept of the previous paragraph, which I quoted last
year. Also, of course, it is necessary because we need to know where to observe the mitzvos which can only be performed in the
Land of Israel.

These days it is particularly important to understand why it is so deeply wrong to give away territories of Eretz Yisrael to non-Jewish hands. The Torah warns us how severe the punishment for doing such a thing is. And learning from the verses quoted above, we see which territories must NEVER be handed over under any circumstances. Today it is clear that the handing over of territories to those who were not part of the land lottery (i.e., the gentiles), even though it was done in the name of peace and security, actually brought us quite the opposite.

When are we going to learn?

Mensaje de la hora / Message of the hour

* * *

Given the present situation, I see it my duty to express my support and solidarity with all the Jewish residents of the Northern Galilee. The Kadima government is responsible for having wasted the last couple of years using the country’s forces against her very own citizens. Today we are paying the consequences. There is no alternative left, but having to un-walk the walked route, take back the area where Gush Katif stood, and re-enter Southern Lebanon. With Hamas and Hezbollah there is nothing else to do, but to put them out of order and kick them out on the street, whatever it takes to accomplish that. If they were left alone, their missiles will soon reach Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. They’ve already reached Haifa.

To all my brethren in the Galil: Courage and strength, G-d is with you!

Un año después: Una mirada al “éxito” de la Desconexión / A Year Later: Looking at the Disengagement’s “Success”

Yeah, summer is here and the Disengagement’s first anniversary is around the corner. Of course, Mar Arik is now in a vegetative state, unable to tell us what was in his mind… And that Golem of a political party he left behind is still in power in virtue of the inertia of his larger-than-life legend, albeit losing its momentum.

Remember the heroic Jews who refused to leave their homes under the threat of having the piece of Jewish soil in which they dwelt turned over to our sworn enemies – who happen to have taken the name of the enemy who once stole the same corner of Eretz Yisrael, displacing the Tribe of Dan. Not surprisingly, the brave Gush-katifniks are still homeless, pitifully thrown in ma’abarot, tent-camps, which Israel was supposed to have all but abolished some fifty years ago.

Hamas won the Arab elections with an extraordinary electoral stunt: a victory over Israel’s power by means of attrition. To the average Arab man in Gaza’s street, Hamas’ moonshine Qassams defeated Israel’s might, like the proverbial water drop ends up making a whole on the hardest rock. And now in power, with the expressed backing of Hizballah and the Iranian government, better and bigger missiles are being built, with sufficient ballistic capabilities to reach Tel Aviv.

As these lines are being written, myriads of Qassams are being shot. They’re no longer aimed to Neve Dekalim, but to Ashkelon and Sderot instead. Hamas’ fancied hudna is over. To their detriment, it did not last long enough to give them a chance to better arm themselves. Still, the open border (?) with Egypt is an open highway for the trade of weapons. No-longer having troops officially there, Israel does not have a say on what comes and what goes through the Rafiah-El Arish route.

On the Northern Shomron, on the other hand, Arabs have now all but settled on the soil once dwelt by Jews. Their appetite is open, and they look forward to continue with the liberation of Falastin.

It certainly doesn’t help at all that Ehud Olmert, the Big Bully of Amona, is still talking of rewarding all past-and-present Arab violence with more territorial concessions, with thousands more Jews being thrown out of their homes, with new Amonas and new ma’abarot, and a unilateral “final agreement” for which no Arab needs to even gesture a pretended acceptance.

And so, as the summer days pass by, and the fast of Tisha BeAv becomes closer, we prepare to remember the many disasters, tragedies and calamities of our history. No sooner have we added kinot – lamentations – for last year’s Disengagement, we are running to get more paper to add a future composition for the Qassams showers, for the Convergence yet-to-come, and G-d-knows-what-else.

Jewish brethren: do not sleep on your laurels! / Hermanos judíos: ¡no durmáis en vuestros laureles!

The Washington rally has come and passed. Olmert is back in Israel. Some measure of success has been met, and he’s scaling back on his “Convergence” plan.

Yet, an uphill battle is before us. The mainstream Jewish leadership in chutz la’aretz, specially that of the United States of America, has a fear of speaking up that is reminiscent of the Second World War, when the forbearers of today’s American Jewish leadership presented the same silence just as European Jewry was facing extermination at the hands of the Nazis, יש״ו.

Yet, just as then, there are voices today that cry out for what needs to be said. Those voices are our voices. It is up to us to make them heard. And we do have the power to make the message an accomplishing one.

Yes, we were ignored during the Gush Katif surrender. We warned about what could happen. It already has. Hamas is on power, and their Iranian sponsor has confessed before all his intentions to kick us into the sea. We have, thus, a greater chance to be heard, to have the public make sense of our message and take heed, than ever before.

Let us not be silent. Let last week’s protest not be the end of it, let it be the beginning of a new era. Together we cal change the course of history. G-d is on our side.

MAKING HISTORY IN WASHINTON, DC -- TUESDAY MAY 23, IYYAR 25

A HISTORIC RALLY IN WASHINGTON DC

On May, 2006, Mr. Olmert came to speak before the United States Congress in order to ask for approximately $10,000,000,000 in loan guarantees to implement his plans to force Jews off their land in Judea and Samaria.

Despite fear from main-stream Jewish organizations, a grass roots effort produced a protest demonstration against the new deportation/ethnic cleansing scheme of Israel’s current Prime Minister.

The message was clear: we are not against Israel, we are against the current administration’s suicidal plan of Convergence. We needed to break an old-age taboo that US Jewry bears: not criticizing the government of Israel in the open.

Major Jewish organizations boycotted the rally. Particularly noticeable was the Orthodox Union’s expressed opposition to the right of American Jews to ask their elected officials NOT to support the Convergence Plan.

At the end, Olmert left the US without having the loan guarantees he requested from the US Congress. And a wonderful, history-making grass-roots movement was born. Unlike the burned-out Orange Movement from the last couple of years, we intend to succeed in keeping the land of Israel whole. Jews in Israel and the world-over will not let it happen again!

The Rally took place at the United States Capitol, Taft Park. Twelve O'Clock Noon on May 23rd, 2006.

There are still outstanding debts from the event, please help out so further action against the Convergence can take place. To donate click here.

El defectuoso Pensamiento Olmert / Olmert’s Faulty Thinking

ב ס ״ ד

(Adapted from a posting of mine at the Revava forum)

A conversation at the comments section of a posting below lead me to see it necessary to expose an erroneous logic in Olmert’s expressed thinking. Olmert’s logic is faulty, and lacks elements of sound judgment.

His premises are:

  • The Arab population is growing at a faster rate than the Jewish population
  • Israel is a democracy, and therefore whomever has the majority will rule the country
  • Integration with the Arabs of the territories is not a possibility
  • Once they're given the land beside the "Security Fence," the Arabs will turn down the hatred volume, as they'll be busy building their own new country
  • A two-state solution is the way to go -- it may be painful, OK, but peace is worth the sacrifice
  • The settlers are just a bothersome obstacle on the “roadmap” to peace
  • The end justifies the means

I think we all know that that is his logic, and where it is truly leading. Within it, he's doing "the right thing." That is, he's proceeding to turn parts of Eretz Yisrael into Judenrein territory, forcing the Arabs to accept that as the territory for their new State. There are, however, a few premises he's missing, and seemingly refuses to acknowledge:

  • The reason for the existence of all Arab political/terrorist organizations within Eretz Yisrael is to "liberate Palestine,” a concept which implies the destruction of Israel, and the throwing of all the Jews into the Great Sea -- save for a few fee-paying members of the Neturei Karta, and the "Jewish" Kutim of Shchem
  • No matter how tall a fence is built, it will not protect us from the ever-improving ballistic technology in Arabs hands, which is aided by Iranian and Russian engineering
  • If, indeed, Arab population continues to swell in numbers, soon millions of Arabs in the over-crowded territories will seek elbow-room. Take the already showing case of Gaza, where the population concentration per square mile is greater than anywhere else in the world!
  • If signing peace agreements was a proven failure with sleazy Arafat, how much more will we be assured a continuum of violence with the outspoken, honest hate mongers of Hamas?!
  • The more land given to the Arabs, the more they feel encouraged and justified in their claim for the WHOLE of Palestine
  • The Jewish residents in the territories are, in fact, not any more an obstacle in the Arab eye -- which defines "peace" as a result of their final victory in the "liberation of Palestine" -- but merely a first goal. The Jews from inside Israel’s "Green Line" will likely be the next goal
  • The Jewish communities in Yehuda and the Shomron are a necessity, since they affirm the Jewish possession over the land -- a Torah instruction indeed.

So long as people sit on the biased, narrow-mindedness of the Olmert doctrine, only the first set of premises will be looked at -- and believed as though it was the gospel truth. When one dares open up their mind’s eye to the wider picture, and realizes the faulty thought of Olmert’s premises, the path becomes suddenly clear. Then acknowledging the missing points follows naturally.
