¡HURRA! / HURRAH!

A law of physics first exposed by Sir Isaac Newton states that for every action there is an equal, opposite reaction. It was Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel, the German philosopher, who first applied that law to the social arena. Karl Marx, his disciple, capitalized on the idea, but it was Mikhail Bakunin, the father or Anarchism, who refined it to its maximum, declaring that in order to obtain a desire result, one must support the opposite idea, so as to deepen the contradictions which would, ultimately, bring down the edifice of the wrong and allow for the right to emerge.
In short, the idea is a twist on Aesop’s principle of “if you can’t beat them, join them”. Bakunin would have expressed it like this: “if you want to beat them, support them in order to make them fall”. If you think the idea sounds insane, I agree. But is an idea, nevertheless.
.
Fifty three years ago, on the eve of Purim, the Lubavitcher Rebbe gathered the Chabad Chassidim at the Lubavitch headquarters, the famous "770" Shull, for a traditional Chassidic farbrengen. After reciting a ma’amar, classical Chassidic discourse, the Rebbe told a joke in the spirit of the holyday. It was an anecdote about a chassid who was sent by his rebbe to a certain place with a strange mission: to register as a local resident, and to vote in the local elections. The Rebbe has had not told the chassid whom to vote for, or what was the relevance of such action. But the chassid listened and went there.

When the elections came, the chassid still didn’t know whom to vote for. On his way to the voting booth, he saw a candidate being held on one of his supporter’s shoulders, as a crown cheered him: “HURRAH! HURRAH!” The chassid followed the crowd for a few blocks and suddenly understood: “hu-ra”. By Divine Providence, the message was clear to him! “hu-ra”, in Hebrew, “הוא-רע”, means “he is evil!” THAT was the message. The chassid voted for the opposite candidate.

I’m not that good with telling jokes, especially when I have to explain why they’re funny, but the Rebbe had no problem telling it to the Chassidim, they all laughed. Then the Rebbe asked the crowd to repeat, cheerfully; “Hurrah! Hurrah! Hurrah!” several times over. The crowd grew louder and louder. Then the Rebbe asked for silence, and gave over a second ma’amar – something quite unusual, since those discourses traditionally given only one per farbrengen, and only on special occasions.

It was later learned that in the very moment the Rebbe had the crowd repeat the hurrahs in the Shull in New York, back in Moscow, Stalin, who had secret plans to deport over a million Jews from Western Russia to Siberia, simply died.

In his day, Stalin looked like a hero to the world: he defeated Hitler on the Russian front, brought education and electricity to the smallest and most remote town in the far provinces of the USSR, and – his propaganda machine had everyone believe – created a just society of equality and resources for all.

Today the world is, once again, deep in the darkness of terrible misgivings. The Jewish nation is, like in Stalin’s last day, existentially threatened, while the world believes the opposite. The horrors of the silent Holocaust are hidden from the world. But the Jewish people are threatened with extinction.

The same Lubavitcher Rebbe that help save the Jews of Russia back in 1953 warned us since 1967, and thereafter, about the terrible dangers that threatened the Jews of Eretz Israel, and of the rest of the world, if the lands miraculously liberated in the Six-Day-War were to be ceded to the so-called “Palestinian” Arabs for them to create there a State. The Rebbe spoke of the danger to the lives of at least three million Jews if such a plan was even spoken of.

Yet, as it sadly happened in the day of Yeshayahu HaNavi (the prophet Isaiah), those in power did not listened, and set the scenario for a catastrophe. “Wherefore, when I came, was there no man? When I called, was there none to answer?” (Isaiah 50:2). Ignoring the warnings of Yeshayahu cost the Jewish people the destruction of the First Temple, and the Exile of Babel. Ignoring the Rebbe’s warnings may very well, rachamanah litzlan, cost us a new Holocaust.

Yet every government of Israel has chosen to ignore the Rebbe’s warnings, coming up with erroneous calculations which are leading us to the worst self-inflicted wound of our history. Begin gave up the Sinai Peninsula against the Rebbe’s explicit directives, and got Israel stuck in the Lebanon quagmire instead of leading the quick campaign the Rebbe explained was necessary. Shamir though himself very smart when, instead of the PLO, he found a newly-founded alternative for “Palestinian” Arab rule with whom to negotiate: Hamas. Back then it seemed the sensible thing to do, choosing to ignore the Rebbe’s warning, that is.

Then the Oslo debacle came up. The misnomer of “peace process” that ensued came accompanied by the choir of Chabad Chassidim that echoed the Rebbe’s warnings about the dangers of negotiating with that which must not be negotiated. But the governments of Israel and the media chose to ignore the warnings, and instead cast a shadow of disinformation, having the public believe that things were heading for the better, that peace was right around the corner, that the land could be safely shared by “both peoples”, and that diplomacy and democracy held the key to our final redemption.

Karl Marx was wrong, amongst other things, when he said that religion is the opium of the masses. The opium of the masses is the media. People read newspapers, listed to the radio, watch TV, or read/watch/listen to the newscasts on the Internet. They feel they have the world at their fingers, that they know it all, and become reduced to cheerleading whatever is sold to them as “good and progressive.”

So, intoxicated by the media, and misguided by the delusion of arrogant governments, masses of people believe that the recent election of Ehud Olmert – in power by a record-low percentage of a record-low voting turnout – is a good thing. Olmert has announced the end of the “dream of a Biblical Israel”. He has a list of Jewish towns to be destroyed, which in the very first stage would render some eighty thousand Jews homeless. He has expressly renounced to “all ideologies”, including the basic principals of Zionism. He is now planning a perverse reverse of and old slogan. He plans to give the Arabs “dunam after dunam”, till much of Judea and Samaria fall in the hands of Hamas.

I will sound like a Bakuninite, except to those who remember the story told somewhere in my rambling: Hurrah, Olmert, Hurrah!

May the Almighty save us from the present calamity.

El nuevo becerro de oro / The New Golden Calf

When Moshe Rabbenu was in Mount Sinai, the children of Israel begun to doubt. Moshe was far away, up the mount. The Midrash tells us that he was, spiritually speaking, up in the Heavens. Several days had passed. According to an erroneous calculation the period of forty days, in which Moshe was supposed to return, was already expired. “Moshe is dead!” screamed some. “Moshe is still alive!” replied the still faithful, enthusiastic ones. But those more pessimistic, letting themselves to be taken over but the evil inclination, won the debate. The people made a funeral ceremony for Moshe Rabbenu.

The “eirev rav”, the Egyptian minority that had infiltrated the midst of the Jewish people at the moment of the Exodus, influenced the people in order to start a movement for a new leader. One easy to control. A Golden Calf.

Aaron HaKohen was forced to collect gold from among the daughters of Israel. He then threw the collected gold into a fire, and from there came out a golden calf. It was an idol of precious but malleable metal, easy to control. It was the cause of the first misfortune of the 17 of Tamuz: the destruction of the first set of the Tablets of the Law. Centuries later it would be the beginning of the destruction of the Temple, and it is today a day of fast and mourning for the Jewish people.

We have today a new golden calf. We call it with a Greek name, “democracy”. We nickname it “the Power of Law”. It is a malleable idol. It was created with a precious material: the leadership of the people. It is an easily controlled idol. An idol imposed by an eirev rav who does not really care about the Jewish People. An idol at the service of foreign interests. An idol copied from the heathen’s Olympus of the United Nations.

This idol is worshiped when one is intoxicated, with the eyes shut and the ears plugged. For this idol, the pain of our children does not matter, it doesn’t even exist. This idol promises a hallucinated peace. But it knows that the promise is impossible. Where is this pagan cult really leading us into?

The very same State that asked for a million of new olim is incapable of providing half of her artificially created internal refugees a home of their own. And now announces its sinister plans to oust eighty thousand of our brethren from their homes. Later, more shall follow. Within the next four years, a quarter of a million will be rendered homeless. All for the unforgivable sin of dwelling on the sacred land of Avraham, Yitzchak and Yaakov. It is the Promised Land, the land gazed at by Moshe in the last moments of his life, from a mountain in Tran Jordan. It is the land claimed by Yehoshua Bin Nun, by David HaMelech, and his son Shlomo; by Ezra HaSofer and Nehemiah. It is the land liberated by the courageous Makabim. It is the land that our ancestors, during TWO THOUSAND YEARS, didn’t let go EVER from the innermost depths of their hearts. Even when they found themselves dispersed through the four corners of the Earth, oppressed by the yoke of the gentiles, persecuted even to the genocide perpetrated by the children of Amalek.

And what peace are we offered? A peace where the Jews would live inside the “borders of Auschwitz” where the armies stopped, by mere accident, on the eve of the Armistice of 1949. A peace in which our most pungent enemies would occupy the heart of our land, and from there they would constantly threaten Yerushalayim, Tel Aviv, Hetzlyiah, Netania, Haifa… A peace in which young soldiers would continue to die, having no place to lodge during their extremely dangerous operations in Ramallah and Tulkarem. A peace in which Jewish pilgrims would never again be able to pray at the gravesite of Rachel the Matriarch, nor at the resting place of the Fathers of our people: Avraham, Yitzchak and Yaakov. A peace in which the hills of Judea would run dry, not having anyone to water them…

The idolatrous cult would have us relieve that we can “punish” the murderers of Rechavam Ze’evi, without honoring the truth of his legacy. The bloody hands that killed him will gesture victory from their prison cells, knowing that they killed the bird and stole away his flying too! The idolatrous cult will demand that we contemplated in silence as thousands of our youths are abused, brutalized, raped, and on top of that charged with the yoke of punishment for having dared to defend the sacred soil. This cult of heathens asks from us, already, to forget the horrors of Amona, and that the overseas Jews must keep the deadliest of silences before the tragedy on our own flesh and blood.

People of Israel, Chosen People, abandon the cult of this new eigel hazahav, and do not follow anymore the children of the eirev rav in our midst. Expel the truly illegitimate occupiers of our land, least they become thorns in our eyes, blinding us, turning us into sitting ducks for the jackals of darkness. For the love of your children, and of your children’s children, the eternal warrantors of the Covenant of Sinai, do not abandon the holy land that lies under your feet.

May it be that soon we arrive to the true peace, in which the swords turn into plowshares, no nation rise against nation anymore, and they learn war never again.

Amona: El Álamo de Judea y Samaria

Remember the Alamo!, ¡Recordad El Álamo!

Remember the Alamo! Remember the Alamo!

Brutalizadas a golpes.

Amona, the Alamo of Judea and Samaria

Remember the Alamo! Such was the battle cry of the Texan patriots back in 1835. For ten years the territory of Texas, locked in the middle of a territorial dispute between the United States and Mexico, declared its independence and became the Republic of Texas.

The fighters for Texas’ independence lost a key battle which led them to win the war: the Battle of the Alamo. Few defenders, poorly armed, and with little at all in common besides their desire to fight for Texan freedom, confronted the Mexican army while entrenched inside the building of an old rural mission house. They lost catastrophically, ending up being massacred by the Mexicans. But the news of the massacre led the Texan population into an armed uprising against the forces of the Tyrant Santa Anna.

Remember the Alamo! Remember the Alamo! Before he could realize it, Santa Anna had lost the war; even though he never accepted defeat before a bunch of civilians who did not even count as a regular army. It was only in 1845 that, once the USA officially annexed the territory of Texas, that Mexico recognized having lost it.

With respect to all distances in history and context – or said in a more Jewish way: lehavdil mea havdalot – Israel has just had her own Alamo. For the Jewish dwellers of Judea and Samaria, Amona has become their own Alamo. Having lost Gush Katif and the four northernmost communities in Samaria, the residents of Yesha – the territories liberated by Israel en 1967 but not yet integrated into the State proper – were prepared to launch a resistance campaign that would prevent further surrender of the most sacred Jewish land into the criminal hands of Hamas and the PLO.

Experience through Israel’s legal system with the case of the homes build in Hebron’s Shuk showed how useless is to attempt a struggle through the avenues of law. Even when holding documents proving the legal Jewish entitlement to the Shuk’s land, as well as the explicit authorization by the lawful owner of the land, the Jewish residents had been violently ousted from their homes by Israeli police. The legal system is rendered useless when the government transgresses its democratic limits and orders to proceed in accordance to its extremely dangerous whim.

Nine houses in the Jewish community of Amona were declared illegal by an Israeli kangaroo court that, in fact, served as a puppet for Olmert’s government instead of using impartiality and autonomy. Thousands of buildings occupied by Arabs lack legal permits. Yet, Israel seldom does anything about it. Rather, it waits for a terrorist to come forth from one of them and commit an act of criminal aggression. Only then are orders of evacuation and demolition issued. But when it is about Jewish homes, the procedure is quite different.

The first of February of 2006 the youth active in the preservation of Eretz Israel in Jewish hands, known as the Orange Movement, come up in massive solidarity to the area of Amona threatened with expulsion and demolition. It was a move of support, and it was expected to simply be a protest which would make it clear that the Jewish people shall not easily surrender parts of Eretz Israel that had been liberated at such a high cost, and which with so much heroism had been redeemed. But for the regime of Ehud Olmert, instead, this was an opportunity to show those “orange outlaws” who’s boss in Israel.

Israeli law provides the police with right to use “reasonable force” to enforce the rule of law. Given that there was a court order – let us put aside for now the validity of such order – huge police forces were sent. There were skirmishes between some Jewish activists and Israeli police before dawn, and the road access to Amona had been closed by the Israeli Army. Secret orders were issued forbidding the Magen David Adom (Red Star of David) ambulances to enter until after a good deal of Jewish blood had been spilled. The Orange Youth, accompanied by grown ups and even three Members of Knesset, reached Amona through a “Burma Road”, a path crossing a nearby Arab village. Miraculously, there were no casualties, no body was attacked, and the local Arab population did not close them the pass.

At dawn the nine new houses of Amona’s new urban sprawl were filled to capacity with entrenched youth, unarmed, willing to resist passively. There were people in the rooftops of the houses, and graffiti and hanged signs announced clearly the claim of Jewish possession of, and the right to live in, ALL of Eretz Israel. A fifteen-year-old girl wrote with red paint in a near-by rock: “The true rule is that of G-d”. Olmert’s abusive authority was not recognized.

A family in Amona, already living in one of the homes, hoped to repeat the images of Gush Katif, and expected to be taken of their home against their will, but without a fight. They only wished to make known their opposition to the government. They still believed in a remnant of democracy. How naïve of them!

From the rooftop of one of the houses a bearded young man sang with his guitar a Hebrew song, as the halutzim – early pioneers – used to sing back in the nineteen twenties. Suddenly, police appeared every where with full battle gear, as it is used to break violent protests: full body shield, heavy hard wooden sticks, steal helmets and transparent face guards. Behind them there was a water-cannon vehicle…

A multitude of protestors encircled the houses, crossing arms with one another forming ring chains. Others courageously approached the police to argue. But there was no argument, the beating started. From the rooftops the youngsters started to yell slogans. A Member of Knesset, backed by the parliamentary immunity that the Law provides, addressed the police. He was not respected, and the strike of a policeman’s held stick fractured his arm. Another Member of Knesset stood on a vehicle. He was pushed violently. The third Member of Knesset was a victim of the aggression of a police horseman. It was then that the protest turn, rather, into a pogrom. Hundreds of mounted policemen came on at full gallop, to beat up protestors mercilessly. All the barriers of resistance were instantly broken. The protestors made a line of burning tires, and jumped in front of it, hoping to stop the police advance. The beating was atrocious. In a couple of minutes there was no more resistance on the ground. In its place, there were now injured people everywhere. Members of the Magen David Adom – who by law possess the right to pass through all roadblocks and to enter wherever they are needed – were attacked by police to prevent them from picking up the injured. Even as they were informed of the desperate need for medical assistance, the army insisted in preventing the entrance of ambulance.

The police broke through doors and windows and entered the houses to brutally beat the youths, who had agreed to sit peacefully, expecting to be simply hauled out. Bulldozers brought groups of policemen to the rooftops of the houses, to violently beat up protestors, not allowing them to surrender or to flee. Injured, many of them unconscious, they were finally brought down the lathers, or in bulldozer’s scoops.

Being most orange youths religiously observant, the entrenched youngsters were divided by gender: there were houses occupied by males, and houses occupied by females. The police brutally beat the youngsters mercilessly and without difference. But with the young women there was even greater aggravation. Men with the power to brutalize above – or in absence – of the Law. Brute men, with no fear of G-d, empowered by a corrupt and abusive government. Defenseless teenage girls, present there only by the innocence of faith and youthful idealism. A fantastic opportunity to be inside four walls were no cameras were recording what could happen…

An older woman could have, at least, counted with the strength of age to return a punch or to push away an attacker. These were very young girls. Fourteen, fifteen and sixteen years of age. Brutalized through beating. Easy victims. How easy was to grab them and touch them anywhere! They lifted the skirt of one of them and torn her underwear. They pushed a long wooden stick so far so far inside her that made her bleed profusely. They yelled at her: “You the religious are having children like rabbits! We want to make sure you have no more children!” The girl, whose name has not been revealed respecting her mother’s pleadings, was left barren. She was only fifteen! The girls were there ordered through yelling: “Get out, whores!” and were then thrown out. Without any charge of conscience they were further beating outside, where the lenses of cameras captured images of brutality, and notoriously the blood in the stick of a police officer whom the government still refuses to identify.

The homes of nine Jewish families in Amona were destroyed. When the day was over, the policemen returned home untroubled. Ehud Olmert, the acting Prime Minister, asked for silence, y launched a press release with a version of the story already prepared before the events actually took place. According to the official version, there was merely a “confrontation between the settlers and the police”. According to the official version, the “settlers attacked the police with stones and blocks of cement” and “it was necessary to bring hundreds of police officers to carry on with the orders of demolition.” Olmert claimed, before a full Knesset session, that “there were no abuses on the police’s side” and that “the request of three Members of Knesset is only a political move, intended as electoral propaganda.” We’d read “nothing happened here.” The Knesset voted by a landslide to veto Olmert, and to start immediately with an investigative committee.

Even as the issue is being reviewed, Olmert goes on with his policy of abusive discrimination against the Jewish residents of Yesha. At least two major residential expulsions have taken place between the Amona pogrom and the hour of writing these lines. In the first case, the expulsion took place at dawn, without prior notice. In the second, the expulsion was ordered on the spot, fifteen minutes before Shabbos. The Jewish residents, observant Jews, were forced to violate the sacred Sabbath in order to fulfill Olmert’s whim! Of course, in the Sabbath there were no cameramen recording evidence of what shameful acts the police could commit. But even more pathetically: the forced evictions are being carried about without court orders. The residents are simply ordered out, and the police would then take care of packing up the belongings.

Olmert feels that he is a great hero, such a macho. He has the power to jerk the candy from a child, and he likes using it. It does not matter to him to whom does the land of Israel belong, or if the land from which Jews have been evicted will end up in the hands of Hamas. He hopes to win the elections with his new image.

Israeli electorate: at the time of voting, remember Amona!

Carta Abierta a Ehud Olmert / Open Letter to Ehud Olmert

Atentamente,

Rafael V. Rabinovich

To the acting Prime Minister of Israel, Mr. Ehud Olmert

Mr. Olmert,

I am writing to you to express my personal outrage to the recent events of Hebron and Amona. You are overstepping the limits of your temporary administrative authority, and violating every principle of Jewish responsibility, not to mention human rights and dignity. The recorded abuses of Israeli police against unarmed civilian residents of the areas of Eretz Israel which you intend to hand over to the Hamas ruled Palestinian Arabs are simply criminal.

I am also writing to you to demand that you stop putting the Jewish people in and out of Eretz Israel in mortal danger.

The disengagement – or Gaza surrender – which your predecessor pushed forward and you supported brought about the triumph of Hamas in the Arab elections in the territories. The haters of Israel and the Jews around the world are growing in strength and numbers, and thanks to the disengagement they have now a comfortable home inside our G-d-given Jewish homeland. How much more will you weaken Jewish unity, bringing about a fraternal war in the midst of the Jewish people while strengthening our enemies with land and political power?!

Mr. Olmert, I urge you to stop at once. Change direction. It is the Arab enemy, not your Jewish brother, whom you need to expel from home.

Mr. Olmert, the blood of your brethren calls from the ground. It is the blood spilled in Amona at the hands of your armed emissaries. Don’t ignore it.

Sincerely,

Rafael V. Rabinovich

A Note From Moshe Feiglin Everyone Should Read

* * *

What produces terror? Is it the feeling of despair or hope?

Since the Rabin and Arafat handshake and the opening of the Oslo process, Israeli strategy has been based on the assumption that despair leads to terror. According to this theory, giving the Arabs hope for a state and better economic conditions will result in the decline and ultimate termination of Arab terror. The results of this assumption are well known to anyone who is willing to look at reality with open eyes. More Israeli civilians were killed in terror attacks in the last decade than the number of all Israelis killed from after the War of Independence until the beginning of the Oslo process.

The heads of the Hamas should send a big bouquet of flowers to Ariel Sharon. His disengagement gave their people a very good reason to understand that terror chased the Jews out and a real hope that escalating terror will lead to the final destruction of the State of Israel. Therefore, it is obvious that they voted Hamas -- the party that promised the most terror. Olmert’s promises for more disengagements will guarantee that terror will continue and escalate.

Guerra avisada…/ Announced war

After turning part of Hevron, city of the patriarchs, into a judenrein place, the fascist dictatorship of Olmert is taking steps to surrender Jerusalem. The Labor Party, ahead of them, already announces its will of giving up half of the Israel’s capital to the Arab enemy. The Lubavitcher Rebbe warned about all of this more than three and a half decades ago! Territorial concessions lead to the surrender of Jerusalem!

It is time to scream out loud, to do the impossible to stop to those treacherous traitors and to claim back that which is property of the Jewish People from time immemorial and by virtue of the Pact of Avraham Avinu that is stamped in our flesh.

HaShem is righteous in all his ways, and kind in all his works.

(Tehillim / Psalms 145:17)

(Tehilim / Salmos 145:17)

Today, 5 of Teves, the world has met the Power from Above. Those live by it, thrive in it. Those who defy it are doomed.

In this day, several years ago, the Lubavitcher Rebbe instructed the chasidim to sing the words of a Talmudic tale: "Didan Notzach!", "We shall overcome". Against the odds, a blessing was given from above, and a major success was awarded to the Chabad chasidim in an earthly court.

The day was established as a holiday. And this year, after the indescribably horrific surrender of parts of Eretz Yisrael at the hands of an evil doer whom the blind world reveres as a "maker of peace" -- when indeed he is the precise opposite! -- that man has suffered a major blow from Above.

Ariel Sharon is in a hospital in Jerusalem. He may, or may not, yet walk out alive from this trial, but he will never again rule in Israel. The cultic political party he recently created, which revolved exclusively around worship of his personality, and possessed neither an ideology, nor a clear path, will not move forward. Kadima will die with Sharon, and "Arik" is already politically dead.

On the other hand, the political party he helped to created in better days is likely to return to power. The remaining question is: Which path will Netanyahu follow? If he fails -- as he sadly seems now to be doing -- to take heed on the reason why the Jewish people has yet sovereignty over the G-d-Given Land of Israel, he will too fall into oblivion. If he amends his ways, stops fighting Moshe Feiglin's positive influence, and sides with the Sheleimus Haaretz camp, Bibi may yet become a good ruler in Israel.

We shall see. Which ever way things go, I joyfully gather my strength to sing Didan Notzach!

Good Yom Tov every one.

Yaakov lived in the land where his father had stayed, the land of Canaan.

(Genesis 37:1)

Continuing with the inheritance of the pact of Avraham, manifested in the ownership of the land of Israel, called “Eretz Canaan” before the arrival of the children of Israel of return of the captivity in Mitzraim (Egypt), Yaakov Avinu dwelt in the land that was its by inheritance, thus continuing to fulfill the eternal pact with G-d.

“His father”, Yitzchak, was not only the heir of the land of Israel, but he complied with this precept all his life. Yitzchak NEVER left the land of Israel. And, unlike his father Avraham and his son Yaakov, even in times of famine he avoided to descend to Mitzraim. He went instead to Gerar, in the border of the Land of the Seven Gentile Peoples (that is to say, of the gentiles that guarded the land of Israel before it was taken into the possession by the children of Israel). See Genesis/Bereshit 10:19, where Gerar is established like a border reference point.

Some chapters further on, in 26:1, Yitzchak went to live in Gerar. In 26:6, the Torah narrates that Yitzchak remained in Gerar, and Rashi explains that this refers to that lived in Gerar “even more time than in Hevron”. From there he was expelled by jealous Philistines, since he had found water and cultivated successfully where the plishtim, Philistines, had failed. He moved then to Nahal Gerar (26:17), where was met with similar success.

It is fit to mention, Nahal Gerar is, exactly, Gush Katif. Thus it is clearly evident, even for cynics, that it is ERETZ YISRAEL, the land of Israel!

But Yaakov chose Hevron as his residence. And what a coincidence, the same destroyers of the Jewish yishuv in Gush Katif/Nahal Gerar are exactly the same ones that today intend to destroy the Jewish yishuv in the old city of Hevron, the city of the patriarchs!

and tomorrow they will tell us what do they think to do with Yerushalayim… ¡BEAUTIFUL ZIONISM!

Carta abierta de protesta / An open letter of protest

Atentamente,

Rafael V. Rabinovich

To the leaders of the WZO:

Shalom uvracha!

As a Torah-believing Jew, and always a steadfast defender of the unquestionable right of the Jewish People over the sovereignty of the Land of Israel, I registered to vote in the World Zionist Organizations elections.

As a sympathizer of a movement that represents my beliefs, I actively participated in helping gather the necessary signatures to enable them to be registered and participate as party in the WZO elections. Evidence of my participation in this effort is readily available in my blog: (http://rafvrab.blogspot.com/).

Yet, when I received the notification that voting had started, I was flabbergasted to find that the party for which I had volunteered had been excluded from the list for eligible parties.

I have always thought of the WZO as a democratic institution, where Jews of diverse ideas and approaches to Jewish observance had equal opportunity to express their support and connection to the Jewish rights over Eretz Israel. Why are those who defend my way of understanding Torah Zionism being excluded for participating in the WZO elections -- and thereby prevented from defending the ideas of a great many Jews like me from being expressed in a democratic forum -- in spite of their compliance with the rules and regulations for running?

I am deeply distraught, and I demand not an empty apology, but the rightful inclusion of the Revava movement in the ballot. I shall withhold my vote until I am allowed to cast it in support of whom I truly wish to have representing me in the Congress of the Jewish People.
.
Sincerely,
.
Rafael V. Rabinovich

De la parashá Lej Lejá / From Parshas Lech Lecha

Genesis 17 –

7 And I will establish My covenant between Me and thee and thy seed after thee throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee and to thy seed after thee. 8 And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land of thy sojournings, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.' [...]

19 And God said: 'Nay, but Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son; and thou shalt call his name Isaac; and I will establish My covenant with him for an everlasting covenant for his seed after him. 20 And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee; behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation. 21 But My covenant will I establish with Isaac, whom Sarah shall bear unto thee at this set time in the next year.'

Afterthought: every time someone speaks of "dividing the land into two states, one for the children of Israel, another for the children of Ishmael", the Torah screams back the verses above. Eretz Yisrael is not for the children of Ishmael. It is for the Jewish people alone.

Protesta contra Sharón / A Protest Against Sharon

(De un e-mail recibido de Ruth y Nadia Matar / From an e-mail received from Ruth and Nadia Matar)

A PROTEST AGAINST WHAT SHARON HAS DONE!
Ariel Sharon is going to be in New York City at the United Nations on Thursday, September 15. He is designated to speak there between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm. Helen Freedman, Executive Director of AFSI (American Friends for a Safe Israel) has obtained a police permit for a demo outside the building of the UN.

It is vitally important that you attend this demo. By his talk at the UN, Sharon expects to bask in both American and International approval! He should not be rewarded for such behavior.

We MUST make clear that The Jewish People will never forget or forgive Sharon's betrayal of his people in Gush Katif and Northern Samaria. Moreover, they will never forgive nor forget Sharon giving up to the Arabs vital parts of the Biblical Promised Land.

De la parasha Ree sobre la economia / This week's Sedra on the Economy

Deuteronomio 15:3-6

You may require payment from a foreigner, but you must cancel any debt your brother owes you. However, there should be no poor among you, for in the land HaShem your G-d is giving you to possess as your inheritance, he will richly bless you, if only you fully obey HaShem your G-d and are careful to follow all these commands I am giving you today. For HaShem your G-d will bless you as he has promised, and you will lend to many nations but will borrow from none. You will rule over many nations but none will rule over you.

Deuteronomy 15:3-6
